The Day the Earth Stood Still

We just had a date! I love dates with my husband! :) Tonight we went to see "The Day the Earth Stood Still." Has anyone else seen this movie yet? I really liked it. Once we figured out the plot it was very predictable, but in this fantastic "it's like I wrote the movie" way! It's very "green," very existential, and very ... timely. Ok, no spoilers, but here's some thoughts that I have had over my life span that were echoed in this movie:
* Society as a whole has lost it's moral base
* It's only when faced with persecution that man will realize what's truly important
* Agrarian vs. Industrial ... the ongoing battle. Go read some Tolkien! :)
* and the bottom line... WE are the change.
Anyway... this movie will probably get trashed in the box office, but I really liked it. Oh, and if you watch it, just ignore the part where it sounds like their alluding to reincarnation. It's just the first law of thermodynamics. Ok, this post makes it sound totally boring! IT'S NOT! It was really interesting! So go watch it! :)

Boring? I don't know, maybe just to may deep and hidden things for me???? I'm kinda blonde when it comes to stuff like that! Cause like I don't know any of the laws of thermodynamics.....

I have seen it, and I thought it was ok. I have also read the reviews and they are OK too. I will say that Keanu did get really trashed for his role, and I don't really think he deserved that. I mean really, he did fine. I am not his biggest fan either. This movie is a remake of a movie from the
50s and it was VERY forward thinking back then as you can imagine.

Oh, I didn't realize it was a remake! ... but Rob just said he already told me that ... so score 0 for listening to my husband...

Anyway, I was telling Corinnea that this role was perfect for Keanu because he was SUPPOSED to be like that! Haha!

Now I want to see the old movie! :)
